Broken vessels

Facial thread/spider or broken veins are a common concern and are small visible blood vessels close to the skin’s surface, often appearing on the nose and cheeks.
Other treatable blemishes can include Blood Spots (Cherry Angiomas) which are commonly red, dome-shaped spots or Spider Naevi which are a collection of blood vessels under the skins surface.

Many people associate these as a noticeable sign of ageing. They are usually harmless and often treated for cosmetic reasons, giving a more flawless, brighter and more youthful skin appearance.

They are typically harmless and commonly treated for cosmetic reasons.

FAQs

They can develop due to changes in the structure and strength of small blood vessels in the skin.

Typical causes can include genetics, age, lifestyle, repeated sun exposure, hormones, pregnancy and weight gain.

As the skin ages, collagen and elastin levels decline, reducing support around the tiny blood vessels which then dilate and become permanently visible.

Blood Spots (Cherry Angiomas) are increasingly common in middle age, especially for women but the cause is not fully known.

A compulsory consultation and patch test are carried out prior to treatment to determine your suitability

We use Lynton IPL technology to target these vessels causing them to collapse and be naturally removed by the body.

Some vessels may respond well after a single session, while others may require 2–3 treatments, depending on various factors.

Treatments are typically spaced 4-6 weeks apart.

Most clients describe it as a warm pinch on the skin.

We use advanced Cryo Zimmer cooling technology for client comfort.

Following treatment the area may feel warm for a few hours. Some areas can be red, swollen or bruised for a few days. There is a chance a small blister may form and there could be  lightening or darkening of the skin, often temporary.

Vessels may fade immediately or darken to a purple or greyish colour before fading.

Cherry angiomas often darken and lightly crust during healing.

Results continue to improve as healing progresses over the coming weeks.

We re-assess the area treated within 4-6 weeks and advise if further treatment would be beneficial.

The treated vessels are typically long term or permanently removed.  However, new vessels can form over time due to genetics, sun exposure, skin conditions or lifestyle choices, meaning maintenance treatments may be required.
