Sun/Age Spots

Sun or Age Spots are flat, brown or darkened patches that develop on areas frequently exposed to the sun, such as the face, hands, chest or shoulders.
They occur when excess melanin forms in the skin and can be triggered by sun exposure over time, age and hormones.

Many people associate these as a noticeable sign of ageing. They are usually harmless and often treated for cosmetic reasons, giving a more flawless, brighter and more youthful skin appearance.

They are typically harmless and commonly treated for cosmetic reasons.
As a precaution, we always advise that any new, changing or unusual pigmented lesion is checked medical professional prior to your consultation.

We take client safety extremely seriously and may ask for a Doctors/Dermatologist letter as confirmation.

A compulsory consultation and patch test are carried out prior to treatment to determine your suitability

We have a range of advanced medical-grade Lasers and IPL technology to target sun/age spots.

During your consultation and patch test we determine the most suitable method of treatment for you.

Some superficial sun spots respond well after a single session. Others, particularly deeper or more established pigmentation, may require 2–3 treatments.

Sessions are typically spaced 4–6 weeks apart.

Most clients describe the sensation as a warm flick on the skin with very little discomfort.

We use advanced Cryo Zimmer cooling technology to aid with client comfort.

Following treatment, the area may feel warm and appear slightly red for a few hours.

Pigmented spots often darken temporarily before they flake or fade over the following 7–14 days. Mild swelling and redness can occur, and in rare cases a small blister may form along with lightening or darkening of the skin, often temporary.

Strict sun protection is essential after treatment and the use of SPF 30 + is advised on a continued daily basis.

Treated pigmentation typically darkens first, then gradually fades as the skin renews.

The skin often appears clearer, brighter and more even as healing progresses.

We reassess your results at 4–6 weeks and advise whether further treatment would be beneficial.

Once successfully treated, individual sun or age spots are usually long-term or permanently reduced.

However, continued sun exposure and natural ageing can lead to new pigmentation developing over time. Consistent SPF use and appropriate skincare are essential to maintain results, and occasional maintenance treatments may be required.
