Tattoo ‘Blow Out’

Some new tattoos get a “blow out” under the skin, this is typically a shadow or blur around the tattoo. These can be extremely frustrating, especially when you have looked forward to your new tattoo.

We are able to precisely* target unwanted blow outs with little to no effect to the original tattoo.

*We cannot guarantee certain areas will not be slightly affected, we fully discuss this during your consultation.

During the tattooing process, the ink should be deposited into the middle layer of skin.

Blow outs can occur if too much pressure is used on the skin during tattooing, the needles penetrate slightly too deep, at the wrong angle or where the skin is thinner. 


Ink then disperses into the connective tissue and fat layer, where it spreads as the layer is softer and less structurally dense. This leads to a shadow or fuzzy edges around the tattoo.

Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee 100% removal of any kind of tattoo, including a blow out.

However in many cases we can target just the blow out area with little to no effect of the original tattoo.

Its difficult to predict but most people see improved results within 1-3 sessions.
